The local area
The North East of England encompasses County Durham, Northumberland, Tees Valley and Tyne and Wear.
Executive Taxis are based principally in Northumberland although we do service the North East as a whole.
The two major cities in Tyne and Wear are Newcastle and Sunderland. Known for their fierce rivalry within football but both individually are cities of merit with many cultural and some beautiful scenes; whether it’s Sunderland’s beaches or looking down the River Tyne to see the many bridges line up in Newcastle.
Down the Tyne valley there is always something to do whether you like sport, history or shopping!
There are many sports venues including Tynedale rugby club based in Corbridge, the Falcons based in Newcastle and if football is your sport of choice, then St James’ Park is just down the road.
Hadrian’s Wall is one of the many historic sites in our area. There are various locations at which you can visit the wall such as Vindolanda or Chesters Roman Fort. Chesters Roman Fort boasts of its onsite child friendly museum. For more information please visit the English Heritage website.
Hexham Abbey is another great historic location in the North East. Hexham Abbey hosts many events during the year, alongside their daily services, notably the Phelps Organ Summer Series. In 2015 Hexham Abbey was given lottery funding in order to restore a section of the abbey to create a medieval monastery complex.
Hexham, being a bustling market town, holds a market on a Tuesday. The centre of Hexham and Corbridge are lined with some quirky local shops if something special needed. If they don’t have what you require, then look no further, thirty minutes down the road are the main shopping centres in our area, Intu Metrocentre in Gateshead and Intu Eldon Square in Newcastle.
